Workshop in review
More than 300 surgeons, one shared question: for whom, when, and how much is enough
On the afternoon of 3 October 2026 at Sheraton Can Tho Hotel, the Renuvion J-Plasma Workshop organised by Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Mekong Delta Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (MSAPS) brought together more than 300 plastic and aesthetic surgeons around technical progress and technology in modern liposuction.
Four lectures followed one line of reasoning: theory, technique, supporting technology and complications. The speakers came from Viet Duc University Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital and the Department of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Renuvion J-Plasma, which combines radiofrequency energy with helium plasma acting on subdermal soft tissue after liposuction, was presented from its principles to its indications and limits.
In the round-table session, the chair and speakers answered questions from the floor on indications, technique and the limits of the technology. The same afternoon, the Department formally launched its seven-volume postgraduate textbook collection published by Medical Publishing House, and the authors signed copies for delegates in the hall.

Dr. Le Trung Kien: two consecutive lectures at the podium
As faculty of the Department of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Dr. Le Trung Kien delivered two of the four workshop lectures, joined the round-table discussion and signed textbooks alongside the author team.
Lecture 1
Body-contouring technologies: efficiency, precision and tissue contraction
A structured review of the liposuction technologies used in practice, from power-assisted devices to tissue-contraction energy, with handling advice: keeping the elbow against the flank so the load stays in the forearm and wrist, reducing surgeon fatigue in long body-contouring cases.
Lecture 2
Complications in liposuction: classic and contemporary
The focus was energy control with Renuvion: tailoring delivery to skin thickness by region, avoiding repeated passes over treated areas, accounting for cumulative heat when combined with VASER, keeping the handpiece moving and staying in the correct plane. Retained subcutaneous gas was discussed together with active venting measures during and after surgery.
